French Press

What you need:

  • French press

  • Digital scale

  • Grinder

  • Spoons

  • 15g of course ground coffee

  • 250g water boiled at 93˚C

  1. Preheat french press with hot water. Once heated, empty out hot water

  2. Add all coffee and place french press on digital scale. Start the timer as you begin a 10 second pour of hot water (all 250g of it) Allow to steep for 4 minutes

  3. After 4 minutes, break the crust by pushing a spoon across the surface up to three times over 5 seconds

  4. Use 2 spoons to clear the crust from the surface. Allow to cool for a further 5 minutes

  5. Push plunger down very slowly for 10 seconds

  6. Pour the entire french press into a cup or vessel. Try not to leave brewed coffee in the french press as it will continue to extract and become bitter
